National Historical Museum - “This is Athens City Festival”

May 2022: The National Historical Museum participates in “This is Athens City Festival”.  See the program and the opening hours. 

 

"This is Athens City Festival" is an initiative of the Athens Development and Destination Management Agency, which aims to offer a new perspective on the way we perceive contemporary city festivals.

As part of the Festival, the NHM is extending the opening hours of the Museum for the weekends of May, Saturday until 20.00 and Sunday until 18.00 at the anniversary exhibition "Revolution 21: Reframed" and the anniversary comics exhibition Soloúp "1821 - the Battle of the Square". The exhbitions close at the end of June and May respectively.

 

The Greek Revolution at Pedion tou Areos - Sunday May 8th, 12.30-13.30

The National Historical Museum organizes a walk at Pedion tou Areos, discussing events and figures of the Greek Revolution, based on the sculptures that decorate the wider area.

Meeting Point: Sculpture of King Konstantinos

Participation is free, up to 20 people.

 A day in the life of a sailor of the Greek Revolution - Saturday May 21st, 18.30-19.30

A tour at the National Historical Museum's anniversary exhibition "Revolution 21: reframed", in the section dedicated to War at Sea. We will talk about the daily life of sailors, their accommodation, their eating habits, their clothing, their entertainment, etc.

Tickets: 3 euros (full admission), 1,5 euros (reduced admission). Admission is free after 16.00 and every Sunday.

 

A day in the life of a soldier of the Greek Revolution - Sunday May 15th 2022, 16.00-17.00

A tour at the National Historical Museum's anniversary exhibition "Revolution21: Reframed", in the section dedicated to the daily life of the fighters of the Greek Revolution. We will talk about the living conditions of a fighter, their eating habits, leisure time, entertainment, clothing, and other aspects of their life.

Guided tour of the National Historical Museum's anniversary exhibition ‘Revolution21: Reframed’ - Saturday May 14th 2022

Guided tour of the National Historical Museum's anniversary exhibition "Revolution21: Reframed" by the curators of the National Historical Museum. The exhibition is dedicated to the Greek War of Independence.

Up to 15 people, first come first served.

Tickets: 3 euros (full admission), 1,5 euros (reduced admission). Admission is free after 16.00 and every Sunday.

 

Walking Tour around the Old Parliament House - Saturday May 14th 11.00-11.30

A walking tour around the Old Parliament Building, which houses the National Historical Museum, we will discuss its architecture, its various uses over the years and its surrounding space.

No limit of number of persons
