Did you know that the closure...

... of commercial and other stores was ordered during the Revolution?

In May 1825, the government, in order to confront Ibrahim's troops, ordered the recruitment of those who could bear arms. In addition, it decided to close commercial and other stores.

In order to deal with the active and vigilant enemy …, shops, cafes, wine shops, and more are ordered to be closed in all the provinces of the Peloponnese. Excludes grocery stores, bakeries, pharmacies and arms stores. Any citizen who violates the above order will be severely punished. Nafplio, May 3, 1825.
